Taking things literally

~While on Vacation~
On the way down
John:  Girls, we're in Kentucky! The bluegrass state!
Anna: They have blue grass here!?

At the Pool
John: Big kids and adults are not allowed in the kiddie pool-- only little kids.
Anna: Only little kids and cats.
John: Cats? like a meow cat? No, they are not allowed.
Anna: Then why do they call it a kitty pool?

In the car
Anna:  Nana, I take tennis and swimming lessons.
Nana: That's great.
Anna:  Yeah, sometimes it rains and we don't get to swim. But that's ok because we're going to have tennis and then we'll have a makeup class later.
Nana:  That's good. You'll get to make it up later.
Anna:  No!  It's a makeup class!
Nana: That's what a make-up class is. When you miss a class you get to take it later and 'make it up.'
Anna: No, Nana, we're going to learn how to put makeup on!!!
