John ran his first marathon on Saturday! He had planned to run in the Columbus marathon a few weeks ago but when the stomach bug hit, he had to cancel those plans. I'm so glad he was able to sign up for the Indianapolis race. He worked so hard to train for this.
I'm so proud of him! Not only did he run 26.2 miles without stopping/walking, he did it in crazy weather. It was a colder day with the high at 40 degrees. At mile 16 it started to hail and then it rained for the last 10 hard miles!
We had fun watching him. We drove around with John's Mom and Dad to see him at a few different spots and that was very memorable.
The girls were adorable! They were so excited to see him along the route.

His official time was 4:21:53! Go John!
Happy to be done! And very cold!!!

ReplyDeleteThe conditions sound horrible. I have no desire whatsoever to run a marathon. What did he listen to? What did they have for food at the end?
