A story for you. When Anna was about five months old her hair went wild. I mean that little tuft of hair in the back started growing before the top could catch up. You all know what I'm talking about ... some people refer to this style, even on a baby, as a "mullet." And, let me tell you, that word evokes all sorts of strong emotions from people. Anyway, her hair was also kind of stringy and thin, but I don't know what got into me. I just couldn't bring myself to cut it. No one ever complained about the growth. People doted over her as usual. No problem, right? What's a Mom to do? Why cut? Then we went to my sister-in-law's nursing school graduation. Within hours of arrival in Atlanta and without hesitation, she laid it all out there. I cut her hair when we got back home. Then, believe it not, tens of people came out of the woodwork. "her hair looks so cute NOW." "I'm glad you got it cut ...she was kind of getting a mullet." Only my Mom (and kind of John) stood by my side. Bless her heart.
So, all that to say, I couldn't let the same mistake happen to Payton. I cut her hair yesterday ... for the first time.
BEFORE
Ah.., the first hair cut is definitely a hard decision to make.
ReplyDeleteBut of course, Payton looks better
with neatly trimmed hair. Good job!
Love ya!
there you have it from grandma... payton is looking better already :) I think the cut looks great! :)
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job cutting Payton's hair. It look so cute!
ReplyDeleteCute hair cut, Pam. I never wanted to cut our girls' hair either!! I love their little baby necks, though. Sweet! I now do not get a say in the granddaughters' hair styles--that's left up to Aunt Ya Ya. Good thing she is a stylist!! Thanks for sharing your adorable baby girls' pictures.
ReplyDeleteLove ya,
Becky
You did great Pam! Your children will thank you later when they don't have childhood mullet pictures dug up. Of course, where I am living now, the mullet is still popular. The 80s bangs never went out of style either. Who know, if I ever have children out here, they may just get to keep their mullets;)
ReplyDeleteLoved the story... and I love your little side comment about wanting to squeeze Payton - it made me smile and miss you! :)
ReplyDeleteshe looks cute, no matter what!!!
ReplyDeleteWho would of thought there would be stress over a 18 month olds hair??? :)
As soon as my kids get hair beyond their neckline, I cut it until the top catches up - boy or girl. It keeps them looking younger I think! Good job. Funny about your sister in law. A friend told me last night a shirt looked bad on me "because she was my friend."
