An older shirt

How long do you keep items of clothing? Do you have a closet cleanse regularly? Personally, I do. I wear clothes out and if I haven't worn something in the past year, I give it to a local charity. I try not to play the "maybe I'll wear or use it someday" game. In fact, I try to have a bag ready when the veterans charity calls and asks to pick up donations. It helps to keep our lives simpler and rather clutter-free. Because of this, I generally don't have pieces of clothing from my college years, but I'll be the first to admit that I have a dress and some other items that I can't seem to part with from those good ole days! John, on the other hand, has a slightly different story. It's not that he is a packrat (far from it), he just rarely goes shopping and is content to wear clothes, well, forever. A few nights ago, we went through his closet and got rid of a few items - including this shirt from his high school days. He's worn it a lot over the past few years but didn't wear it all this past summer, so in the bin it went! Believe it or not, it was still in relatively good condition! What's the oldest item of clothing in your closet (purposely bought vintage items don't count)? Do you still wear it?

  1. I clean my closet at the end of each season so I can give clothes to my mom's work. Mark still has baseball t-shirts from high school! He wears them to work around the house all the time.

  2. I still have Gene Loves Jezebel, The Might Lemon Drops, and Echo and the Bunnymen tour t-shirts from 1987-1988. I don't wear them, but I am keeping them in my cedar chest for some reason! :-)
