Holiday Happenings

We happened to catch "Rudolph" on TV over the weekend. It was a cozy night for us and since we had a bottomless bowl of popcorn, Payton was content to stay in our laps for most of the movie. She did mosey on over to the tree shortly before it ended (see pic below and do you notice the stool?) Really, it's too cute.

We made sugar cookies on Monday night. This year I decided to make royal icing - the glossy kind that dries hard. Is it supposed to be disgusting? Did I do something wrong? Even after finding a five-star recipe, it made our palates cringe. We iced three cookies, ate one, and then threw it out. The tried and true vanilla frosting was much better.

(Do you notice the two outcast cookies)

  3. We only use royal icing as 'glue' for our gingerbread houses to build the walls, roof and secure the candy decorations. I don't think it tastes good either, but it does make great glue. ;-)
