I'm so thankful for my dear friend, Allison. Every Fall she takes our family photos. She is such a joy to be around and always gets some great shots.
I must say that the memory of this day will forever be etched in my mind. It will serve as a true reminder of how unpredictable life can be with a two-year old. : ) Payton had gotten up from her nap about 20 minutes before we left for the park. Usually this results in a well rested and happy little girl, but not this time. She wanted nothing to do with this photo session. She wanted to be in my arms the entire time and refused to smile for Allison and her antics : ) I resorted to bribing her with M&Ms and other treats which, thankfully, resulted in her being willing to run around and have fun for a few minutes. However, it didn't last long b/c she fell and scraped her hand on the pavement right after Allison got some smiley shots. There was absolutely no emotional recovery after that spill. At this point, all we could do was laugh. Initially I had some disappointment about possibly missing some good photos, but I then I thought, "This is family life, with all of it's ups and downs, smiles, and frowns." This photo session most certainly captured some real life moments and memories! I'm so thankful to God for the family he has given me and the reminder that we all need His grace.

Sorry all my monkey-doodling didn't help. At least you got pictures of life with a 3-year old. :)
ReplyDeleteLove it...of course, we love the photographer, too!! Oh, and YOU guys!!! Love the Payton looks, though. You will be glad to have them captured for your life time. Plus...think about how they will look at her wedding reception!!!

I think all of Anna's smiles made up for Payton's frowns... and of course, it will always be a sweet memory smiles or no smiles! Great pics!
ReplyDeletethe family photo is just awesome... oh man we have had some really really REALLY bad photo stories.... family members yelling, kids screaming, glad to know it is normal.
