The girls and I spent a few days getting caught up on all the good stuff with my Mom and Dad.
My parents house is a treasure trove for my girls. They like to play with my Mom's old flannel graph board and stories that she's had since the 60's. They know how to work the record player and put on music that my parents have owned for decades. They get out my old toys and books. They peruse my Mom's jewelry box and ask for treasures. Some day those things will not be cool to them. I'm so happy that they have memories there! Thank you, Lord.
Mom of the year award!!!! I can't believe it!! My parents took us to Coney Island to ride some of their rides. The girls weren't quite tall enough to ride a lot of the rides by themselves. I was the only one to accompany them since my parents have graduated to the "spectator" age. The girls wanted to go on one of those big slides (the kind with the wool sack) over and over again. I could only take one child at a time and it was over 50 steps to the top. After about my 8th time (bc the girls loved it), I was about to tell them that we were done with the slide when the bored teenager overseeing the ride said to me flatly, "You definitely get the Mom of the year award." So, now I know what it takes. Usually it's my mishaps that get me to the top of the list! Seriously, though, the girls had fun there. We all did. Their favorite ride was the Ferris wheel, not the slide :)
