a total bummer

Has a friend's child ever gotten hurt at your house?

Saturday afternoon we watched Henry and Wyatt while Jonathon and Michelle went to a movie and ran some errands. It was great day and everyone was enjoying themselves. Sometime around 4:00 I went upstairs to use the restroom and John stayed with the kiddos. After a few short minutes I heard someone crying and John yelling, "Pam, get down here, now!" I found John holding Henry- blood was streaming down his face and he was crying. Stay calm. Apparently he had tripped in the living room, right in front of John, and hit his head on our small kid's table (of all things ...a round table!). Once we got him cleaned up, we noticed a significant cut on his forehead. We knew it didn't warrant an immediate dash to the ER (the bleeding had already stopped and it wasn't that big). So, we called his parents and then just felt sooo bad. Poor little guy. He was inconsolable until I thought to distract him with a movie. Then, all was calm and good. In fact, he stayed nestled in my arms for a good 30 minutes even after his parents arrived. I'd like to think he felt nice and comfy with me, but I'm fairly certain he just wanted to watch the rest of the movie. Jonathon and Michelle were, of course, concerned when they saw Henry, but we knew everything was ok when Jonathon asked if we managed to get any photos of Henry's bloody face.

Michelle took him to a local urgent care where he got the cut glued and bandaged.

I wish this photo had been taken 5 minutes later. Both of the girls hovered over Henry to make sure he was ok.

  5. One of the kids vomitted for the sitter the other day but my sitter - wonderful as she is - didn't call because she said it would worry me! Glad that Henry's mom trusts you! I can just hear John calling.
