Cheese

Parenthood has some really random and funny moments doesn't it?
John was out mowing the lawn when he thought he came across a mole.  Determined to catch it, he grabbed a box from the garage and told the girls to come and help him.  They watched the moving grass and were finally able to catch the little critter.  It wasn't a mole ... it was a mouse!  Anna was immediately enthralled with the little rodent.  Before we could say anything, she declared ownership and said, "This is great, now that we caught this mouse, I have a pet!" What a deprived child!  She's desperate for a pet, I guess (how about a baby brother or sister instead?).  Well, Anna decided that she wanted to name it, "Cheese," and John agreed to let the girls admire the mouse until he was done mowing.  Anna was so cute. I overheard her saying, "Cheese, don't be scared if it rains. Just come to our house and I'll take care of you, ok?"  After a bit, we did take the box to the field and Anna let the mouse go.  She was very concerned about the mouse finding his family and home and she insisted that we follow it through the field.  You know how that went?  After about 5 seconds, it was gone beyond eyesight.  Here's hoping that Cheese doesn't come back to our house when it rains again : )

  1. 1. I cannot believe you put it inside your door.
    2. I cannot believe you don't have more mice with that cornfield.
    3. I cannot believe John caught it.
    4. You need a pet snake to eat the mice.

  2. I have no affection for mice, and I agree, with Andrea, I would have NEVER brought it inside :) But... nonetheless, super cute.
