Tuesday was John's happy birthday. By his request, we went out to eat for a yummy breakfast and then he spent about an hour kayaking out on the lake. The rest of the day was spent at the beach in front of our hotel. It was a lovely day. The girls couldn't get enough of sand and swimming. It was nice that the water was only knee-deep for at least 100ft into the lake - perfect for little kiddos. All day Payton kept saying, "Happy Birthday to you, Daddy!"
On Wednesday we drove out to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It was the first time for any of us to visit sand dunes. They were so cool. I'd like to say that it was all fun and games, but after we made the girls climb the first hill, we heard A LOT of whining. So, we came down and packed the girls into the van. While Payton took her much needed nap, we did the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. It was well worth the time. I think Anna enjoyed it too - I guess it helped that we were armed with snacks. Goldfish goes a long way.
Loved all the pics Pam!! Looks like a wonderful time and who knew MI was so beautiful!! :)
