Beggars night

I really like seeing all the children dressed up in their costumes.  They look so cute and creative.  Payton was Abby Cadabby.  She likes that Sesame Street character even though she's never seen the show.   I still don't know how the interest really started - a coloring book, maybe?  Anna was Dorothy.  Likewise, she's never actually seen The Wizard of Oz.  She saw the costume in an advertisement and asked if we could get it for her.  No problem.  We borrowed both outfits from friends. : )

The girls walked around the neighborhood with their cousins and some of the neighbors.
This year was especially fun because both of the girls were old enough to walk up to the houses and ask for their treats.  Of course, Payton preferred the stroller.  I kept reminding her to say,"Trick or Treat."  Instead, she would say, "Happy trick or treating."

I know a lot of parents cringe at the sight of all the candy.  We let the girls eat several pieces that first night, and then we combined all of the loot into one larger bucket.  Now we're mostly using it as a reward/encouragement for eating all of their vegetables at dinner.  It's working!  I'm thinking that this might be a good time to introduce some new foods and maybe I'll have to replenish the candy when it runs out : )

  2. all those kids at your door are probably like, "just give us our candy lady & stop taking pictures!" They of course don't understand the need for blog material. . .
